Full Pour Review: The Ex Hex

Hands down, this was my favorite fall seasonal read of 2021 🥰 The Ex Hex had me smiling and laughing within the first few pages so right off the bat I knew I was going to love it. At the time I started reading this book, I was getting out of a reading funk and was in need of something entertaining that would be hard to put down. This witchy rom com was everything I hoped it to be 🤗

BOOK DESCRIPTION: “Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.

That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.

Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.”

As mentioned above, this book truly did have it all: lovable, witty characters that you immediately fall in love with, the most perfect small town setting with all the Halloween vibes you crave, enemies to lovers/second chance romance tropes, STEAM, a drunken curse gone wrong and an entertaining journey to save the town full of magic and mishaps. I couldn’t get enough of Vivi and Rhys and did not want this book to end.

I truly can’t recommend this book enough. If you are looking for a really cute Halloween book that will make you smile and laugh out loud, this one is for you! I am beyond excited that this is the first book in a new series and I can’t wait for the next release 💛

BEER RECOMMENDATION: The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling is best paired with Dunkin’ Pumpkin by Harpoon Brewery. This enjoyable pumpkin coffee ale is brewed with real pumpkin, pumpkin pie spices, and a splash of coffee🍻
